You can plank me later...

The search is on for the plank King and Queen of Jersey, as a charity challenge aiming to test islanders to their very core returns for its fourth year.

Les Amis is inviting islanders to take part in Jersey's annual Plankathon at Liberty Wharf between 11:00 and 15:00 on Friday 27 September.

Due to the success of last year's challenge, the competition will this year be taking place at a larger venue, which the charity hopes will help them top the amount of participants in previous years.

43 minutes is the individual time to beat and, as a group, Jersey Taekwondo took the title last year with 118 minutes between them.

If in need of inspiration, the current women's planking world record is four hours and 20 minutes, while the men's record is eight hours and one minute... Is that all?

Jason Loveless, Head of Support Services for Les Amis, commented: “We’ve decided to host this year’s competition to coincide with the Super League Triathlon, as hopefully it will be incredibly busy on the Island and there will be a real buzz around fitness and endurance sports."

"Who knows, maybe we’ll see a professional triathlete come along and try their luck?" he joked.

Islanders of all shapes, sizes and abilities are invited to take part in the event, which is described as "relaxed" and "fun", with friends, families and work colleagues all able to team up.

"We aren’t looking to break any records but just to support a really good cause and to get a good crowd to cheer on all those taking part," Jason added.

Tickets are £6 for an individual and £20 for a team of four, with all proceeds going to Les Amis.
