A group of young actors are taking to the stage next week and are looking to bring the house down with their new Madness musical ‘Our House’.
The youth drama group who only got together a year ago are preparing for their first big production at the St James Centre venue for arts.
The cast of 20 are putting on the new show from Thursday 28 April until Saturday 30 April.
Youth Arts Jersey’s Senior Youth Worker Carmel Butel said: “Our house is, in fact, two musicals in one. The story splits early on to follow the two paths Jo Casey’s life could have followed depending on which decision he makes on the night of his sixteenth birthday.
“The story explores the themes of love, family values, growing up, responsibility and dealing with losing the people that shape us.
“Producing this musical has been a fantastic learning opportunity for the young people involved both on stage and in the band and support crew. It’s been exciting, challenging and enjoyable and the subject matter is especially relevant and thought-provoking for young people who will be in the position of making life-changing decisions."
Education Minister Rod Bryans said: "This is a great example of how the team at Jersey Youth Service are using arts, and this excellent venue, to really inspire and help the Island’s young people. It is exactly what the St James Centre was designed for. I wish them the very best of luck."
The musical is being supported by young members of the Youth Arts Jersey band.
