After a summer of playing violin for the public, Jersey’s youngest busker has raised enough to buy himself the laptop of his dreams.

Having saved some money from birthdays and Christmases, eleven-year-old Seb Kirkby took matters into his own hands when his dad wouldn’t lend him the remaining money to buy the computer he wanted.

Seb decided he would reach his target by getting his busking licence a couple of months ago, and all of his hard work has now paid off after raising a grand total of £600 this summer.

The Powerhouse, who saw Seb’s story on Express last month, sold the young musician his new laptop for a heavily discounted rate. A spokesperson for the electrics company said: “We offered Seb an upgrade but he had his heart set on the Hewlett Packard Envy X360 Convertible Laptop.

“So rather than the £599 retail price, we discounted it to £495.99 and threw in Microsoft Office, a mouse and a laptop bag. Seb can now use the remainder of his money for something else, as an extra reward for his efforts.

“Seb’s story is very inspiring and it is of course great to support local talent. We wish him the very best with his musical aspirations and have no doubt he has a bright future ahead!”

Commenting on his achievement, Seb said: "I feel really proud that I've managed to save that much money. It's taken a long time but it was worth it! I was overwhelmed by the very generous offer from the Powerhouse and it was very exciting because everyone was very helpful and I could go and get it straight away. I spent all afternoon setting it up!"
