Deputy Chris Le Tissier, having listened to concerns raised by the Vale Douzaine and parishioners, had lodged an amendment to SACC’s plans for the island wide vote.
He tried to change the proposals put forward by the States Assembly and Constitution Committee, which include using Les Mainguys Activity Centre as a super polling station in the Vale, to enable the parish to use the Douzaine Room and Les Mainguys for parishioners only to cast their ballots on Wednesday 18 June 2025.
His amendment was supported by 10 deputies with a majority voting against it. Deputy Le Tissier was the only member voting against the plans for the super polling stations after that.
SACC’s plans for super polling stations will enable all registered voters to cast their ballots at any polling station across the island in the run up to, and on, election day next June.
Yesterday’s States decision means that polling station plans will be open:
- on Sunday 15, Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 June 2025, at Beau Sejour, Les Maingys Activity Centre, and Styx Community Centre; and
- on Wednesday 18 June ONLY at Castel, St Martin’s, St Sampson’s, St Andrew’s and St Peter Port Douzaine rooms.
SACC announced the new polling station proposals, as they wanted to streamline the election process. This came after a consultation period with the island’s parishes. You can read more HERE.
