Guernsey based actors are invited to audition for a major new feature film, which will shoot on the island this summer.

World War Two drama ‘Under the Watchful Gaze’ follows the story of a family living through the German Occupation.

The producers are looking for actors for three important speaking roles – one woman and two men.

Gene Fallaize, the film’s writer and director, said: “These three roles are integral to the story, and all have key scenes with the lead characters, so I’m really pleased we can cast these with people from Guernsey.

“Having grown up in Guernsey, I know there is an amazing wealth of creative talent on the island, so I’m really excited to see our first local actors.”

The first three characters the filmmakers are looking for are:

  • Gordon (55-65)
A weathered Guernsey local. Strong, stoic and deeply rooted in the island. Julie’s husband.
    Accent: Neutral / Guernsey
  • Julie (50-60)
A well-built upper-middle-class lady. Polite, caring and warm. Gordon’s wife.
    Accent: Neutral / Guernsey
  • Mark (40s)
A rugged market trader. Practical, resilient and quietly defiant.
This character speaks in both English and Guernésiais, so some familiarity with the language OR the ability to learn phonetically will be useful.
    Accent: Neutral / Guernsey

All the roles are paid.

Film or TV acting experience will be helpful for all roles, but is not required.

Anyone interested in applying should upload a headshot and acting CV (in PDF) using this link: https://tinyurl.com/yh8kkcct or by visiting the social media channels for ‘Under the Watchful Gaze’ and following the links.

In-person auditions will be held on the afternoon of Sunday 10 May in St Peter Port, Guernsey from 15:00 to 17:00.

The production will be looking for several other actors, both male and female, for other roles later in the year, as well as extras for various crowd scenes.
