From the start of March, Blue Islands will allow pets to travel in the hold on flights between Guernsey, Jersey, Southampton, and Exeter.

The airline says its new service will make it easier to bring pets to the Channel Islands or take them home from the UK.

“With flights between Jersey, Guernsey, and Southampton or Exeter typically taking less than 50 minutes, travelling by air is a much quicker and more convenient alternative to longer ferry journeys,” the airline said. “The short flight duration minimises stress for both pets and their owners, ensuring they arrive relaxed and ready to enjoy their time together.”

Rob Veron, CEO of Blue Islands said this has been planned in response to passenger needs.

“We understand the unique needs of islanders, and we’re proud to provide a comfortable and stress-free way for families to travel with their pets or bring new dogs / cats home to Jersey or Guernsey. Whether you’re travelling, relocating, or bringing a new pet from the UK, we’ve created a seamless process to ensure a safe and smooth journey.

“This initiative comes in response to growing demand from our community, especially from families looking to bring dogs and cats home to Jersey or Guernsey from the UK.”

The new service is available from 1 March. For more information visit Blue Islands website HERE

Pets will need to travel in an approved carrier, which owners will handle and ensure is securely placed in the aircraft hold, and as a requirement the owner must be travelling on the same flight.
