Guernsey’s ambulance service was deployed to the harbour earlier this week, (Tuesday 22nd July 2025), to treat an injured patient on a ship at the commercial berth.
Emergency crews provided treatment on board. Due to the patient’s location, the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service used a turntable ladder and basket stretcher to safely lift the patient from the boat to the quayside.
After further treatment by a paramedic, the patient was taken to the Emergency Department of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital for assessment.
A double-crewed ambulance, paramedic, and an ambulance incident officer attended the scene, alongside the other Blue Light services.
A spokesperson for Ambulance and Rescue praised the co-ordination, communication, and co-operation between all those involved: “Ambulance crews worked well with colleagues from the fire service, the harbour authority and the boat operators.
“The co-ordination, communication and cooperation between agencies meant that clinicians were able to provide the most appropriate care for the patient in a safe environment. It was a good example of joint working and shared situational awareness.”
