Skipton and Caritas are bringing back their outdoor sleeping fundraiser to support the charity’s emergency modular housing plan for those without a place to call home.
More than 300 people attended the first event in January with over £40,000 raised for Caritas’ idea to build a modular housing community in Guernsey.
Sleeping bags will again return to the KGV Playing Fields on Friday 23 January 2026 to highlight the scale of housing insecurity in the island.
The issue of homelessness in Guernsey has increasingly been in the spotlight in recent years.
A 2023 States of Guernsey Indicators of Poverty report found that more than 1,000 people are without secure housing, although this is a conservative estimate.

Graham Merfield, Chair of Caritas Guernsey, said: “No one wants to see another year where islanders are still without a place to call home, but the reality is, the need remains.
“That’s why we’re incredibly grateful to Skipton International for standing alongside us again to bring back The Big Skipton Sleep Out.
“It’s a powerful symbol of our wonderful community, and the funds raised are already helping us take real steps towards creating safe, secure modular homes for people experiencing homelessness.”
Charlotte Dunsterville, Chief Commercial Officer at Skipton International, added: “The response to last year’s event was incredible. People of all backgrounds came together to take on something difficult, because they believe everyone deserves a safe home.
“This isn’t just a fundraiser, it’s a statement that homelessness in Guernsey can’t be ignored. We’re proud to partner with Caritas again and hope even more islanders join us this year.”
The 2026 event will be launched this weekend at Seafront Sunday with the public able to speak to charity leaders and purchase an early-bird sponsorship.
