The Guernsey Bach Choir and Orchestra
This Saturday 17 January, St James will once again host the Guernsey Bach Choir and Orchestra for an evening of fabulous choral classics.

Conductor, Alan Gough MBE presents: Regina Coeli K108 – W A Mozart, Cantata 190 (New Year Cantata) – J S Bach, Maria Theresa Mass – Haydn.
Nicki Kennedy Soprano, Alexandra Gibson Contralto, Nicholas Hurndall Smith Tenor and Andrew Rupp Bass.
The Mozart Regina Coeli is a wonderful showcase for our guest soprano Nicki Kennedy. A mixture of technical brilliance and expressiveness with jubilant choruses mixed in.
Bach Cantata 190, written as a New Year cantata, shows Bach in a truly festive mood. The opening chorus is full of celebration and musical fireworks followed by beautiful arias for the soloists.
The masses by Haydn written for chorus, soloists and orchestra are some of his most special and well-loved works. The Maria Theresa Mass gives us the master at his best. The work is full of uplifting contrasts.
The Guernsey Bach Choir and Orchestra are joined in this performance with a welcome return of four gifted professional guest soloists who have delighted audiences both locally and worldwide with their exceptional talents.
Doors open at 7pm, with the performance commencing at 8pm. Pick up your tickets today!

The St Peter Port Sketch Club Exhibition
In 2025, the St Peter Port Sketch Club visited over twenty locations around the town to draw the buildings, streets and squares of St. Peter Port… And now you have a chance to admire the outcome!

The varied and unique pieces will be celebrated in the Sketch Club’s annual exhibition in the George Crossan Gallery, opening next Thursday 15 January and running until 21 March.
The sketch club is organised by CCD Architects and this year there was a record number of participants of all ages, from seven to seventy years old. The exhibition features hundreds of drawings and paintings using a huge variety of different styles and techniques. Often drawn quite rapidly, the sketches are a spontaneous response to the location and a captivating record of St Peter Port. All are welcome.
“The St Peter Port Sketch Club brings people of all ages and drawing experience
levels together through the power of art and an appreciation for our Island’s unique architecture. We recognise the social benefits that the club brings and are very proud that Guernsey Arts will sponsor and host the exhibition in the heart of St Peter Port for the third year running.” – Russ Fossey, Guernsey Arts.
The George Crossan Gallery is located within the Inner Market and open from 9am – 5pm. Free admission.
