Hearing Stones at St Andrew’s Church
Following last summer’s well-received Pilgrimage to Bach concert series, Guernsey-born violin virtuoso David Le Page has joined forces with local writers Simon De La Rue and Gillian Jackson to produce a celebration – through music and the spoken word – of the famously hard-wearing rock on which the island’s culture has developed.
The project will culminate in three, candle-lit, evening concerts in some of our most ancient churches; the first of which takes place this Friday 16 August at St Andrew’s Church!
Can’t make this Friday’s performance? Town Church will be the venue for Saturday’s show, and St Martins Church the following Sunday evening.
Due to funding from Guernsey Arts, there will be no admission charge for these concerts. Patrons can choose to participate in a retiring collection, if they wish to help fund future, similar projects.

From Monday 19 August until Saturday 24, MTG welcome you all to enjoy their production of ‘Carrie’, based on the novel by Stephen King.
“Carrie White is a misfit.
“At school, she is a bullied outcast who’s virtually invisible to her peers. At home, she’s at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother.
“But Carrie’s just discovered she’s got a unique talent, and if pushed too far, she’s not afraid to use it.”

Art at the Park: ‘Collections and Transformations’
Tim Babbé and Rachael Bearder combine to create a dual exhibition space featuring their respective artisan skills of ceramic-work and willow-weaving.
This fabulous exhibition will run from 20 August until 20 September 2024 and will be open daily between 10:00 and 17:00 at the Art at The Park Gallery, The Folk and Costume Museum, Saumarez Park.
Entry is free and it is an access-friendly venue.
What Shadow? (ce que dit la bouche d’ombre)
What Shadow? (ce que dit la bouche d’ombre), an otherworldly collection of work as a result of a series of residencies that took place in Guernsey, Jersey and France in 2023-4.
The exhibition features a variety of media focusing on the history, mythology and folk traditions of Guernsey, Jersey and France as well as the exploration into the occult and spiritual worlds by Victor Hugo during his exile in Guernsey and Jersey between 1852-1870.
The three artists on residency, Yasmin Atkinson (Guernsey), Louise London (Jersey) and Estelle Chaigne (France) came together during the collaborative project between Guernsey Arts, ArtHouse Jersey and Les Ateliers du Vent (Rennes).
What Shadow? Is an exhibition suspended between reality and myth, playing with light and darkness exploring remnants of the past and encounters with perceptible fears and violences.
