This Saturday 4th July from 7:30pm, a Drum Machine Theatre production comes to Avril Earl Dance & Theatre Arts Centre.

Estranged brothers, Jay & Matt, reunite as one of them battles cancer and the other addiction. Now confronted with their own mortality and survival, the brothers revisit their childhood, and the events impacting their once unbreakable relationship.

This production has been selected to be performed at the National Drama Festival, after its success at the recent GADOC One Act Play Festival, where it received four nominations, including Most Outstanding Performance and Best Magical Moment.

This production is recommended for audiences aged 14 and over due to mature themes, violence, and strong language.

The production will be followed by a Q & A with the cast.

The Bleeding Veil: An Exhibition by Etienne Marquis

The Bleeding Veil is a new exhibition by local artist, Etienne Marquis, running at the Guernsey Arts Greenhouse Gallery from the 19th June until the 31st of August.

“Past and present, Tales and truths, Step into the bleeding veil that holds these worlds together.”

This exhibition features a wide collection of oil paintings by Etienne Marquis. These include both his portrait work as well as a newly unveiled collection of paintings exploring stories of local folklore.

Inspired by the masters of painting’s past, Etienne channels their techniques and perspective in his depiction of contemporary figures and stories. This branching of the past and present is also alive in his newest body of work which is a contemporary rendition of time old folk stories.

In this collection of folklore, Etienne has worked with a number of locals who modelled the figures, choreographed dances for and provided in depth sources of information for this archive of our collective history.

Visiting the exhibition you can hope to see some familiar faces and locations from the mystical monoliths of Dolmens and Fairy Rings to the bay of Petit-Bot and the rocky cliffs of Pleinmont

Guernsey Museum at Candie is open from 10am – 5pm. Normal admission applies, free with discovery pass.

Art at the Park: Marine Life by Rosanne Guille

The National Trust of Guernsey’s Art at the Park Gallery is delighted to welcome Rosanne Guille back to the Gallery with her latest exhibition ‘Rosanne Guillle: Marine Life’, opening next Tuesday the 7th July.

After her expeditions to Alaska where she undertook a vast array of arctic painting, Rosanne returned to her love of the sea and Guernsey.

The exhibition runs from Tuesday 7th July until Friday 31st July from 10am until 5pm daily – please be aware that the exhibition will close at 2pm on the final day.

About Rosanne Guille MA (RCA)

Rosie grew up in Sark where her interest in painting was first sparked. In the 1990’s she studied Natural History Illustration & Ecological Studies at Bournemouth and then at the Royal College of Art in London.

Exhibitions include the Society of Wildlife Artists and Royal Miniature Society and her work is in collections around the world.

In this exhibition ‘Marine Life’ Rosie revisits her love of everything to do with the sea.  From our fishing communities to the myriad of species which inhabit our beaches and coasts.  The sea has always run in her veins and through her paintings. It is so much a part of who she is and is why she continues to choose marine life as a subject for her work.
