A commemorative gala will take place on 11 September to mark the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and celebrate Guernsey’s contribution to this pivotal moment in history.

Dubbed “a night of tribute, heritage and community spirit”, the event will begin with a welcome reception at 7pm. This will be followed by a three course meal, music and live entertainment and a video display of footage from Battle of Britain.

The gala has been organised by Things to Do Guernsey who will donate all proceeds to RAF charities and Guernsey Air Cadets.

Members of 201 Squadron, Guernsey’s own RAF squadron, will also be in attendance to “highlight a proud connection between Guernsey and the RAF”.

Karen Solway, Event Coordinator at Things To Do Guernsey said: “This dinner is a heartfelt tribute to the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of those who defended our skies during the Battle of Britain. It is both a commemoration of the past and a celebration of the enduring spirit of the RAF and 201 Squadron.”

The event will be hosted by the St Pierre Park Hotel.
