Despite the changeable weather forecast for the Easter weekend, Guernsey Ports has got everything ready for local mariners to head out, and to welcome visiting sailors too.

Guernsey’s Harbourmaster Captain David Barker said the preparations must include safety considerations too.

“With the summer approaching, many islanders across the Bailiwick will be thinking about getting on the water in their vessels. I would encourage everyone to consider the ‘3 Ps’ – Prepare, Provide and Perform.

“By following these principles, mariners can reduce the likelihood of getting into difficulty and increase the chances of safe rescue, should things go wrong,” he said.

Prepare, Provide and Perform

The 3 Ps are a set of things to consider before going to sea.
