The tranche of callouts happened on 25 July and included an engine fire and a yacht that went adrift near Rosaire Steps in Herm.

There was also a false alarm raised and a 33ft yacht without power that needed help near the north-west of France. 

Guernsey’s Coastguard has taken the opportunity to remind boatowners of the importance of marine safety and preparedness. 

“With the summer season fully underway, I would encourage everyone to consider the ‘3 Ps’ – Prepare, Provide and Perform – which are vital to marine safety,” said Harbour Master, Captain David Barker. 

 “By ensuring your vessel and passengers are properly prepared and equipped, mariners can reduce the likelihood of getting into difficulty and increase the chances of safe rescue should things go wrong.
