Guernsey is hosting a Carers’ Wellness Day on Friday at the GROW Charity Hub.

The free event is a part of Carers Week and it aims to provide unpaid carers with a day of pampering, relaxation, and community, including beauty treatments, meditation, a sound bath, and a buffet lunch. It’s been made possible thanks to a £2,000 donation from Investec.

The initiative highlights the ‘Caring About Equality’ theme of Carers Week, which is this week, drawing attention to the inequalities carers face, such as poverty and social isolation.

Ellie Lawrence, the Chair of Carers Guernsey says she hopes carers feel seen.

“Far too often, carers are overlooked in policy and practice — despite providing round-the-clock care, often at great personal cost. We hope this Wellness Day offers a small moment of restoration, and reminds carers that they are seen, valued and supported.”

This year’s Carers Week also sees the launch of a new Carers Guide, a local resource offering practical and emotional support for caregivers.

There are hard copies available, but it can also be downloaded from the Carers Guernsey website HERE.
