The new Policy & Resources policy letter asks the States to approve work to ensure the interests of Guernsey are always represented in any negotiations between the UK and EU, and ensuring any future protocol or agreement fits the Bailiwick’s needs.
One of these key needs is to ensure the island keeps its unique relationship with the Crown, and maintains its autonomy, something that will no doubt come up in trade talks between Westminster and Brussels.
Finally, if approved, the policy letter will trigger the development of any legislation needed to cleanly bring in Boris Johnson’s deal.
