Any charity or community project looking for backing has until the end of Tuesday to apply for money from the Skipton Community Fund.
The Fund has already donated £35,000 to groups across the Channel Islands so far this year, but Skipton is looking to make more grants.
Skipton’s Community Fund supports smaller not-for-profit projects across the islands helping organisations deliver work that benefits our communities.
Past recipients have included Margo’s Marvellous Mind, which was set up to fund a stem cell journey for a young Guernsey girl.
Born in September 2023 as one of triplets, Margo has faced extraordinary challenges from the very start of her life. Despite living with the effects of a severe brain injury, her mum, Naomi Foley, says she continues to show remarkable strength every day.
“We are absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of the Skipton Community Fund. The donation is a huge milestone in Margo’s journey and brings us so much closer to our next step on her stem cell journey. It’s more than just a donation, it’s a gift of hope for Margo’s future, and we can’t thank the committee enough for their support.”
Fenella Comeskey, Chair of the Skipton Community Fund Committee, said “the support we give to local charities shows the breadth and importance of the work taking place across our islands every day”.
“From health and wellbeing to inclusion, sustainability and practical support for families, local charities play a vital role in strengthening the communities we are proud to be part of,” she added.
“We are so pleased to have supported such a wide range of organisations, and we would encourage eligible charities and community groups across the Channel Islands to apply before the next closing date.”
The Skipton Community Fund supports non-profit organisations carrying out projects across the Channel Islands that benefit the local community.
Applications are reviewed quarterly, with grants available up to £3,000 per organisation, subject to the Fund’s criteria.
