Odilia Marote, who manages the La Mer counter at the department store, has been named COPRA Retail Consultant of the Year 2026.

A de Gruchy beauty manager has been recognised with a national award celebrating excellence in the cosmetics industry.

Odilia Marote, who manages the La Mer counter at the department store, was named COPRA Retail Consultant of the Year 2026 at an award ceremony hosted at The Savoy Hotel in London.

The award, presented by the Cosmetic & Perfumery Retailers Association (COPRA), recognises retail consultants who demonstrate excellence in customer service, product knowledge, sales achievement, teamwork and professionalism.

Ms Marote, who has worked at de Gruchy for the past three years after returning to join the La Mer counter in 2023, was recognised for her customer service, sales performance and commitment to delivering a high-quality experience for customers.

She was also nominated for her enthusiasm, dedication to customers and colleagues, and her role in developing the La Mer brand locally.

Store Director Simon Youden said the award was well deserved.

Speaking about receiving the award, Ms Marote said: “I was extremely excited and proud to be nominated, especially knowing there are so many talented and deserving people working across the beauty industry.

“Winning the award made me feel recognised for the hard work and effort I have put into my role.”

She added that her passion for the brand extends beyond its products, because of the brand’s values and “and commitment to supporting the oceans”.

“Receiving this award motivates me even more to continue growing the counter and sharing the La Mer story with even more Islanders,” Ms Marote said.
