In its Spring funding round, the Channel Islands Co-operative Society’s Community Fund has awarded £44,767 to 46 community groups across Guernsey and Jersey, with 20 Guernsey organisations receiving funds.

This money supports projects that benefit islanders. Addressing isolation, improving wellbeing, or enhancing education and outdoor areas are all key issues being addressed by this round of grant recipients.

Among them was Adult Disability Services, which received a grant for La Vieille Plage, a new residential development for islanders with severe learning disabilities.

Georgina Hayes, the Senior Programme Manager, stated the funds would buy “colourful and engaging furnishings and equipment” for residents.

Vazon Church also received funding to support its youth outreach work in the Castel area. Eric Gaudion, representing the Rue des Goddards community, noted the funding would “equip our team to offer first-rate activities and life-enhancing community experiences to local young people”.

The Co-op Community Fund, granted more than £20,000 in its first year, and continued with significant donations, including over £12,000 in June 2023 and almost £40,000 across the Channel Islands in November 2024 and June 2024.

Carl Winn, Head of Community and Sustainability at the Co-op, highlighted the fund’s role in supporting those improving the islands.

“We believe in the power of community, and the CI Coop Community Fund allows us to support those on the front lines of making our islands better places to live.

“Whether it’s a school garden, a wellbeing initiative or a local festival, each successful project reflects the spirit of community we value so deeply.”
