​Marks & Spencer has reopened its Community Fund for a second round, offering charities and groups grants of up to £1,500 in funding. 

The retailer puts £20,000 in the fund annually, supporting 12 to 15 projects including schools, environmental projects, and volunteer groups based in Guernsey.

M&S has set out its stall in terms of what types of initiative it’s looking at, with a focus on environmental protection, supporting the elderly, social inclusion, health and wellbeing, and youth inspiration.

Interested groups must apply online, with a panel of senior managers assessing entries.

Haute Capelles Primary School recently boasted about the benefits of its grant funding, which was used to buy healthy snacks for its Hedge Veg initiative.

​Greg Yeoman, Head of M&S Guernsey, said the company was “incredibly encouraged” by the responses to their first round of community funding and added that “the impact it has already had across the island”.

“Reopening the fund allows us to continue supporting the fantastic work being carried out by local organisations,” he said.

“We look forward to receiving another round of applications and helping even more community projects thrive.”
