The GSPCA is looking for weekend staff and volunteers to help take care during what’s become one of the charity’s busiest summers.

There are lots of opportunities available, from dog walking and cat care to wildlife support and administrative and desk duties.

There are evening and weekend shifts to support the charity’s 24/7 work – so there’s something for everyone, the charity said.

The warm weather and continuing heatwaves have meant that an unusual number of animals are getting into trouble.

Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, said: “We would encourage islanders, where possible, to leave fresh water and suitable food out for wildlife, particularly during dry and hot periods.”

The summer has also been busy because with islanders out and about enjoying the weather, islanders are finding more and more animals in need of care.

Mr Byrne added: “The support of our volunteers and staff is at the heart of everything we do, and we would love to hear from anyone who enjoys working with animals and wants to make a positive difference to animal welfare in Guernsey.”

If you are interested in joining the GSPCA as a member of staff, you can apply by downloading an application pack.

Those wishing to volunteer must be aged 16 and over and can apply using an online form.
