‘Donkeycorns’ – that’s unicorn donkeys to the uninitiated – are back for the second time at Channel Islands Pride for its 10th anniversary.
Liberate Guernsey is looking for 50 donkeycorn volunteers to take part in the Pride Parade, which is will follow a route from Market Square to La Vallette Bathing Pools for the first time this year.
“We’ve moved the pre-Pride gathering from Candie Gardens to Market Square, so people can start at the Rainbow Steps before heading to La Vallette,” said Ellie Jones, Channel Islands Pride Director.

Ms Jones said the donkeycorns were “hugely popular” when they were introduced as part of the “Pride Brides wedding“, the last time Guernsey hosted Pride, in 2024.
“Since we only have 50 suits, they will be handed out on a first come, first served basis.”
Anybody who wishes to don the donkey/unicorn costumes is asked to meet outside Town Church on Saturday 12th September from 13:00 to suit-up.
Organisers said volunteers should be at least 5ft tall, so that they can see while wearing the suits, while anyone under 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent, carer or guardian.
Ms Jones added: “We hope people who didn’t get a chance to be a donkeycorn last year get a chance this year – it is a uniquely hilarious and memorable way to celebrate CI Pride for it’s big 10th anniversary in Guernsey.”
There is also a window display competition with the winner receiving a feature on their social media.
