A paedophile who was also convicted of drug trafficking has had his original eight-year sentence increased to 11 years.
Steven Beausire (39) was convicted last year for a series of offences, which included sexually assaulting a child and trafficking drugs – including MDMA and cannabis.
He was sentenced to eight years in prison last October, but the His Majesty’s Procureur – who brought the appeal – argued that the original penalty imposed by the Royal Court was “unduly lenient”.
HM Procureur had originally asked for the sentence to be increased to more than 15 years.
Beausire had previously been sentenced to 11 months in prison for six offences, including fraud, stealing a bluetooth speaker, and carrying an axe through Candie Gardens.
