Emergency repair works are underway at Perelle this week after recent high tides and strong winds caused damage to the seawall.
The Coastal Infrastructure team and the States Property Unit have arranged for urgent remedial work after coping stones on the seawall became loose and displaced.
A contractor has been appointed to carry out the essential repairs to prevent further damage during stormy weather.
The works will take place from today (Monday 15 December) to Friday 19 December and will require temporary traffic lights on Route de la Perelle. During this period, there will be no exit onto the main road from La Biloterie Road, although traffic will still be able to enter the main road.
Separately, Rue de la Maladerie will be closed on Friday 19 December to allow Guernsey Water to carry out a CCTV drainage survey.
Infrastructure Officer Marco Tersigni said remedial repairs were often needed at this time of year due to the impact of winter weather on coastal defences.
“It’s important that we act quickly to address this as soon as possible to avoid further damage in stormy weather,” he said.
