Amanda Hibbs and Trevor Wakefield have been announced as non-voting members of Education, Sport, and Culture.
They’ll hold the same duties and rights as ordinary members, but do not have the right to vote on matters.

Amanda Hibbs
Amanda Hibbs has more than 30 years of experience in communications, marketing, and events across various sectors.
She was the Director of Communications and Events for the Guernsey 2023 Island Games, and currently leads communications for Guernsey Mind, and has previously worked with the charity Grow.
Her career spans roles in education administration and tourism as an accredited tour guide.
“Through my work with the Island Games and the charity sector, I’ve been fortunate to meet many dedicated and inspiring islanders who give so much of their time and energy behind the scenes.
“I hope to represent them by bringing a fresh, external perspective to the Committee, engaging openly and constructively, and helping to shape thoughtful, balanced discussions and decisions. I’m looking forward to getting going and working with Trevor and the rest of the Committee.”

Trevor Wakefield
Trevor Wakefield has a background in both the education and hospitality sectors.
He’s formerly a Senior Lecturer, Vice Principal, and Principal of the College of Further Education.
He is the founder of the Guernsey Adult Literacy Project and former Chair of Governors at Blanchelande College.
Mr Wakefield has previously served as a director of Guernsey Arts and held management positions in the local hotel industry.
“I am delighted to be able to join the Committee and I look forward to learning about, and getting involved in, the broad range of their mandate,” he said.
“I hope that my experiences in education, the arts and governance will enable me to provide both support and challenge that will add an extra dimension to the Committee’s decision-making.”

The due have received a warm welcome to ESC, with Deputy Paul Montague, the Committee’s President, praising the experience brought in by the appointees.
“The breadth of experience that Amanda and Trevor will bring to our Committee is excellent; to have people who show such strength across the education, sport and culture elements of our mandate is a real gift.
“They both are characterised by a dedication to giving back to our community and making a difference. We look forward to welcoming them to the Committee, so that we can begin benefitting from their insight and knowledge as soon as possible.”
