Guernsey Mind held its annual 10k challenge on Sunday, with the wind ensuring it lived up to its name.
Hundreds of people ran or walked their way along the west coast from the Imperial Hotel to Grandes Rocques.
473 people had registered to take on the challenge and were watched by spectators “all along the route,” said Amanda Hibbs, the charity’s Communications and Events Lead.

“We were really pleased with this year’s turnout,” she said.
Ms Hibbs added: “For the first time, runners and walkers were welcomed over the finish line by live music from Maisie and Lawrence, which really added to the atmosphere.
“We’re also extremely grateful to Guernsey Civil Protection, Guernsey Police, St John Ambulance and our motorbike lead for their support in helping the event run smoothly.”

For the 9th year in a row, Investec was the challenge’s lead sponsor. It said: “Investec has proudly supported this event for 9 years.
“It’s a fantastic community event that helps raise awareness of the work Guernsey Mind does to support mental wellbeing across the island, in workplaces and throughout the wider community.”

The event is an “important fundraiser” for Mind, Ms Hibbs said, as challengers collect their own sponsorship.
“We’d also like to thank Guernsey Dairy for providing milk at the finish and Channel Islands Co-op for its contribution towards the fruit,” she added.
Jack Rees crossed the line first with a time of 31 minutes and 50 seconds just days after setting a new mile record for Guernsey.
Eleanor Jamieson was the first woman home in 37 minutes and 20 seconds.
The day, however, was not about winners or losers, but to raise awareness and money for Guernsey Mind.
“We know how important the link is between physical and mental wellbeing,” Miss Hibbs said, “and so many people gain a great deal from running and walking.”
