The States has put the brakes on traffic management at La Charroterie after the building project they were installed for failed to get going on time.

Traffic lights and other measures were put in place on 24 August, ahead of development work which was due to begin “imminently”.

The ‘traffic calming measures’ were expected to be in place for over a year and a half, as the old CI Tyres site gets turned into new housing – but the project appears to have missed its green light.

With work yet to start, Traffic & Highway Services has now removed all of the traffic management measures.

It said the decision was also made to “alleviate pressures” caused by roadworks on other key routes into Town.

So, after putting traffic lights in place to prepare for building work, the States has now taken them away because the building work is… still waiting to start.

A spokesperson said the measures would be put back in place when development work can begin.
