Initially, the lights were put up temporarily while the utility firm carried out some planned works in the area over the weekend.
Engineers were working on a property along Glategny Esplanade which was due to end on Sunday, but the firm announced it was taking longer than planned so the temporary traffic lights would stay in place on Monday too.
It has now been confirmed that a cable fault was discovered in the area as the planned works were being carried out and it is the cable fault which is now being worked on.
It’s not yet known when the lights will be taken down.
Traffic jams are expected in the area, in both directions will the lights remain in use, so motorists are asked to allow extra time for any journeys going through Salerie Corner.
