Dr Brink said the Public Health team is “very reassured” by the absence of the corona virus in the North Pole. Jolly old Saint Nick, who will be coming over in his sleigh, will be able to bypass border restrictions on his way to deliver presents this Christmas.
Chief Minister Peter Ferbrache addressed the situation after receiving a message from a young boy, Flynn, who was worried that Santa wouldn’t be able to visit Guernsey during the festive season.
“We know Father Christmas is magic, I’m hoping he’ll bring me lots of presents and I’m sure you’re all hoping he’ll bring you lots of presents,” said Deputy Ferbrache.
“But Flynn, and other little boy and girls like him, were concerned that he would face some restrictions,” he added, before turning to Dr Brink.
“We are delighted to announce today that Father Christmas has been given critical worker status,” she said with a smile. “He will be subject to no isolation, no testing, and will be able to visit us freely. We all look forward to him arriving in the Bailiwick.”
