White Watch was despatched and on arrival two crew members were sent inside the house wearing breathing apparatus to check the situation out.

The alarm had already alerted a woman who was inside the property at the time and she escaped without injury.

The crew say they then “quickly located and extinguished the fire and prevented further damage to the property.”

They used breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and 45mm jet to find the flames and put them out.

Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service said the “property had working smoke alarms that alerted the owner of the fire so once again demonstrates the importance of having smoke alarms and checking them regularly.”
