Four people were taken to hospital after a candle caused a house fire.
Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service, Guernsey Police, and Ambulance and Rescue were all called to the property on La Charotterie last night.
The four people inside the house had already evacuated before the emergency services arrived, after a smoke alarm alerted them to the fire. They were all then taken to the Emergency Department as a precaution after inhaling smoke.
Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service said this highlights the vital need of having working smoke alarms inside your home.
“We would like remind everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms and testing them regularly,” said a spokesperson.
“If anyone requires any information on smoke alarms please call the Fire Safety department on 01481 221111.”
