The people at the beating heart of Guernsey’s ambulance service have been celebrated at a special awards ceremony.
The 2025 Ambulance and Rescue Service Awards was hosted by the Bailiff at the Royal Court.
Trainee Emergency Medical Technician Mimi Smith-Le Flock was highly recognised – taking home four awards.
They included a Chief Officer’s Commendation for demonstrating “professionalism, composure and clinical leadership”, when she helped save a cyclist’s life after a heart attack.
Mimi also received an award for clinical excellence as part of a crew that responded to a potentially life-threatening maternity emergency.

As a trainee, Mimi has followed in the footsteps of numerous colleagues who have gone before her, including Guernsey’s first female paramedic who was also recognised at the 2025 award’s ceremony.
Paramedic Team Leader Sonia Guille joined the service in 1994, before completing her paramedic training four years later.
A spokesperson said Sonia had “led teams with professionalism, commitment and
dedication”, while still remaining operationally active as a practicing paramedic and as an Incident Officer”.
The Bailiff gave out 12 awards in total including a long-service award for Ms Guille after her 30 years with the ambulance service.
Other recipients included Emergency Medical Technician Kadie Ormrod and Emergency Care Assistant Ashley Butterfield for keeping a patient’s heart beating until paramedics arrived.
