A doctor had asked for an emergency transport to Guernsey because of a medical case.

A spokeperson for St John said a paramedic crew from the emergency ambulance service left St Peter Port harbour at 12:20 and arrived at Braye Harbour just over an hour later to join up with an Alderney ambulance crew.

The patient was transferred onto the Flying Christine to be looked at by the team from Guernsey and taken back to the island. They arrived shortly before 15:00, and were taken to the Emergency Department at the PEH.

This was just one of 22 calls for the ambulances over a 24 hour period on New Years Day.

The St John Ambulance spokesperson said they wanted to thank the volunteer skipper, navigator and engineer who made themselves available on New Year’s Day to assisted the medical crew on this incident.
