Young people from across Guernsey are invited to take part in this year’s Rotary Young Artist and Rotary Young Photographer competitions.
The competitions are open to anyone aged 17 or under and provide an opportunity for young people to express their ideas.
Entrants are invited to interpret the theme of friendship in their own way, either through painting, drawing, collage, digital artwork or photography.
The competitions are divided into three age categories; senior, intermediate and junior with the winners of each category receiving a special experience prize.
Julie Bulpitt, coordinator of the competitions for Rotary Guernsey, said: “We know there are so many talented young people in Guernsey, and these competitions are a wonderful opportunity for them to showcase their creativity.”
“The theme of ‘Friendship’ offers endless possibilities, and we’re looking forward to seeing the many different ways young people interpret the theme through art and photography.”
“Whether someone already enjoys art or photography or simply wants to have a go, we’d encourage them to enter. We hope families, schools and youth organisations across the Island will help us spread the word so that as many young people as possible can take part.”
Guernsey Arts Commission is working alongside Rotary Guernsey, enabling each entry to be displayed in a public exhibition George Crossan Studio in the Market Building.
Being up from 1 October to 10 November, it will give family, friends and the wider community the opportunity to celebrate the creativity of Guernsey’s young people.
The closing date for entries is 1 September.
