Among the Bailiwick runners lining up at the start line of this year’s London Marathon will be the departing Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Advice Guernsey.
As her ‘final task’ before leaving the charity, Annie Ashmead will be running the 26.2 mile course as a fundraiser opportunity.
The iconic race takes place three weeks today – and it will be the second time Ms Ashmead takes part.

She first joined CAG in 2020 as a Research and Campaigns Volunteer, before training as a Generalist Adviser. She was then appointed Deputy CEO in October 2021, which is the same year she ran the London Marathon for the first time, raising money for the charity in the process.
In September 2023 she took on a different fundraising challenge, walking 45km to mark the 45th anniversary of Citizens Advice Guernsey.
Her third and final personal fundraising challenge takes place on 26 April – and it will also be her final act as a paid member of staff for the charity.
“It’s going to be a real challenge for me as last time I did London I was 5 years younger and decidedly fitter!” said Ms Ashmead.
“Citizens Advice is an amazing charity that helps support so many people with whatever problems they face; and it provides this service for free. So I am doing what I can to help raise funds and awareness about this fantastic charity.”
A spokesperson for CAG said they wanted to extend their “heartfelt thanks to Annie for her extraordinary contribution and wishes her every success as she begins the next chapter of her journey”.
