Three Guernsey firemen are set to tackle the 39-mile Saffery Rotary Walk next weekend, wearing full firefighting kit while also sharing the load of a breathing apparatus set.
The team has been training in the station tower during lunch breaks to prepare for the grueling coastal route.
Speaking for the trio, Matt said the crew wanted a unique challenge to support the annual event and its local charity causes.
“It definitely seemed like a good idea when we first discussed it, but that opinion may change over the course of the Walk, “ Matt said. “Training has already shown us what a challenge it is going to be.
“The support and reactions we’ve had so far have been brilliant. We wanted to do something different while supporting such an important community event and the local charities involved.”

You can support the group of firefighters through their SportsGiving page.
This year’s event marks the 27th year of the Saffery Rotary Walk, one of Guernsey’s largest and most popular community fundraising events.
It’s open to everyone with options including the full solo walk, relay teams of 4-7, and the Family Walk.
You can find out more and sign up to take part through the official Saffery Rotary Walk website.
