However, The States of Guernsey has not relaxed its rules around dogs being allowed on Lihou, rules which are clearly highlighted on signs put up at the entrance to the causeway.
Dogs are not allowed on the causeway at low tide either.

“Lihou is an important breeding area for seabirds,” said Conservation Officer for La Societe Guernesiaise, Jamie Hooper.
“The island is an important habitat for nesting seabirds, such as gulls, shags, cormorants and oyster catchers.
“The obvious risk is the dog chasing the bird; however, the dog doesn’t have to do anything at all to have an effect.”
“The mere presence of a dog will stop a bird choosing a place to breed.”
Even though it isn’t currently breeding season, many birds will choose their breeding spot well in advance, so dogs aren’t allowed on the island at any time of year.
