The team behind the event will be welcoming swimmers to La Vallette from 06:30.

They’ve asked for a £10 donation from each swimmer, which will be exchanged for a hot drink token which can be redeemed at the cafe at the Bathing Pools.

Later in the day, the charity is also holding an afternoon tea at Les Cotils which will be attended by Mrs Cripwell. As wife of the Lieutenant Governor she moved to the island earlier this year and has since supported many charities, including Bright Tights.

Pat Child, the Chair of Bright Tights encouraged other people to also organise their own events.

She said “there are ideas on our Website about organising a Bright Tights Breakfast but any money raising event is welcome!”

Bright Tights provided practical, financial and emotional support to women in the Bailiwick diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer (womb, ovary, vulva, vagina and cervix). It also aims to raise awareness of the symptoms of gynaecological cancers, and to support research into better detection and improved treatment.

Regular support group meetings are organised for Guernsey women diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer where they are able to chat confidentially and support one another.

The gynaecological support nurse at the PEH, Carol le Sauvage, is now able to provide a direct link with gynae patients, enabling Bright Tights to provide personal and specific support to local women by funding various individual needs including: food and fuel vouchers, counselling, cleaning, chiropody, gardening and decorating.

Through ‘The Eve Appeal’, Bright Tights has funded research into gynaecological cancers at University College London (UCL). A plaque on the wall at UCL, acknowledges this giving and thanks Bright Tights and the people of Guernsey for their support.

Money can be paid to Bright Tights sort code:40 22 25 account number: 84340477 or at any HSBC Bank or sent to The Treasurer Bright Tights, Mrs A Battye, Victoria House, New Road, St Sampson’s GY2 4QD.
