The Tourism Management Board will again oversee the decision-making process for events and activities grants, following Economic Development agreeing last year to hand them the role.

Hannah Beacom, Chair of the Tourism Management Board, said: “The Tourism Management Board wants to use this funding to support locally held events and activities, and invest in new product, where there is a clear benefit to tourism. 

“This is a great opportunity to see some new, fresh ideas coming through and we’re looking forward to discussing how we can support financially and otherwise. 

“Weighting will be given to proposals that would increase bed nights/spend in the shoulder months of the traditional season, and with the island heading towards the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, the board will welcome events and activities that highlight our unique history and heritage throughout a year which marks such an important milestone.”

The budget for the grants has yet to be decided.

It was £123,000 last year.

The Board is looking for submissions that will meet some or all of the following criteria:

• Driving enhanced on-island experience for the visitor and thereby enhancing Guernsey’s tourism product.

• Driving incremental visitor growth.

• Promoting business or economic development where there is a clear tangible benefit for the local economy.

• Building local entrepreneurial capacity.

The deadline is 17:00 Wednesday 30 October. 

The Board will meet to  agree grant allocations on the week commencing Monday 4 November. The applicant will be informed of the decision by the beginning of December.
