It’s been described as ‘a major upgrade’ which will ‘reshape the lives of Guernsey’s learning disabled’.

The plans will cost up to £3million to come to fruition, with the funding coming from charitable donations, the business community and generous individuals. There will be a number of fundraising initiatives run by Grow Ltd over the coming months to help raise the money.
The money will then be spent in a variety of ways including more training opportunities to provide skills in different areas.
One idea is to create a hospitality training kitchen, which will be run like a cafe, to give workers the experience of handling money, customer service, using washing machines and other household and kitchen equipment.
A new fully equipped workshop is planned so trainees can make garden furniture and other wood products while still retaining a sheltered environment for those who are less able.

The current greenhouses used by Grow Ltd at its premises are not considered safe during gale force winds so they will be rebuilt and new car parking facilities will be offered.
Other changes planned include the addition of an expanded range of plant sales, while new opportunities will come from working alongside other ‘like minded’ charities in the new purpose built accommodation being provided.
