Local artists, Tiffany Anna and Woodie are in the process of providing an extra stroke of colour at Guernsey Airport.

The duo are creating a vibrant piece, with themes and iconic imagery, hopes to help inject more art into public spaces, and aims of being more welcoming and engaging.

The mural will include a puffin, a Guernsey lily, and local seaweed, and came about thanks to a collaborative effort between the artists, Guernsey Ports, and widespread support from local businesses.

“We wanted to create something that immediately makes people feel the magic of Guernsey the moment they arrive,” said Tiffany. “The puffin, lily, and seaweed are symbols of the island’s beauty and heritage, and we hope this mural brings a smile to everyone who passes by.”

Woodie added: “Public art has the power to connect communities and spark pride in our home. This mural is just the beginning, and we’d love to see more walls and spaces around Guernsey transformed into colourful celebrations of who we are.”

The mural has been sponsored by Butterfield, and has seen B&Q donate paints, 4hire provide equipment, and Impact Scaffolding Ltd assemble a scaffold tower setup.

Richard Saunders, Managing Director of Butterfield in the Channel Islands said: “As a bank that serves the needs of the community, we are proud to sponsor this vibrant artwork and support our local talented artists. Art plays an important part in connecting people and this project highlights the creativity and culture that exists in Guernsey.

“We are pleased that many residents and visitors who travel through our busy airport will have an opportunity to feel inspired on their journey.”

David Buddery, Commercial Development Project Manager for Guernsey Ports is really pleased with how the mural looks so far.

“We’re always looking for new ways to showcase the island’s diverse arts community in our public spaces. Projects like this not only brighten the journey for travellers but also celebrate the incredible talent and pride found across our island.

“I hope this is just the start of many more creative collaborations at both the airport and harbour.”
