The Policy and Resources Committee decided to immediately donate the money to Ukraine without specifying exactly where it was to be used.
It has now been announced the money will be split between two organisations, one providing aid and one supporting refugees.

The British Red Cross is working with Ukraine to provide essential aid. It’s supplying a wealth of support to those directly impacted by the fighting, including first aid and shelters. The organisation is also helping families stay connected and providing financial support to those in need.
UK for UNHCR is a partner charity with UNHCR (the UN’s Refugee Agency). The organisation is registering and supporting people who’ve been displaced by conflict.
“There are many organisations working very hard to provide humanitarian support to the people affected by the crisis in Ukraine and clearly the need is enormous,” said the President of P&R, Deputy Peter Ferbrache.
“There are many that would put this donation to good use, but there’s no doubt that by donating to the two we have chosen it will be put to where it is needed on the ground.”
