David Matthews MBE, a Samaritans volunteer since 2009, is currently undertaking a 6,100-mile journey visiting over 200 branches across the British Isles with Guernsey as his next stop.

His goal is to raise £50,000 for suicide prevention services, and crack the £30,000 he fundraised in 2021.

Samaritans said that seven months into his latest trek, Mr Matthews has visited more than 110 branches and covered nearly 3,000 miles.

As of last week he had already raised £8,786.

Following recent stops in the Isle of Wight and Bournemouth, he is scheduled to be in Guernsey on Monday 13 April, so if you see him show your support.
