A mystery flock of peafowl has taken up residence near Les Effards – and the GSPCA is trying to work out where they came from.

The animal charity said it is in contact with nearby peafowl owners but believes some of the birds are strays and may have travelled up the island.

GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said the birds can travel long distances and that he wants to reunite these “beautiful birds” with their owners.

“If you have peafowl and think some may be missing, please contact us as soon as possible.”

Seb Goman, GSPCA Senior Animal Care Assistant and Welfare Officer, added: “We have been working with the Peafowl owners in the area of Les Effards to try and find the owners of a number of birds that do not seem to have a home to which they go back to and seem to have taken residence in this area.

“ If you have any information please do get in touch with the welfare team at the GSPCA to help us get them back where they belong.”
