A health worker has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of data protection crimes.
Express understands the individual was working at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital at the time the alleged offences were committed.
A spokesperson for Guernsey Police told Express that the person is due in court this week.
“Guernsey Police can confirm that a 35-year-old health worker has been charged with a series of data protection offences, and is due to appear in court (this) week.
“Victims have been contacted by Health & Social Care, and the matter has also been referred to the Office of the Data Protection Authority.”
Elaine Burgess, Director of Care Delivery confirmed that the person is no longer working for HSC.
She said the matter is currently in the hands of the courts – and that the victims have all been contacted.
“A former member of Health & Social Care staff was arrested in February 2026 on suspicion of unlawfully accessing patient records. When this was initially discovered, the individual was immediately suspended and is no longer employed by Health & Social Care. We notified the affected individuals and offered support, informed the Office of the Data Protection Authority and referred the matter to the police.
“We recognise how upsetting and unsettling this incident has been for those affected, however, as this matter is now before the courts, we cannot comment further to avoid prejudicing active legal proceedings.”
