A medical student charged with illegally accessing the personal data of 46 people while she worked at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital will have her case heard by the Royal Court.
35-year-old Rebecca Elliot appeared before Guernsey’s Magistrate’s Court for a second time this morning.
She was given unconditional bail until 22 April when she will appear before the Royal Court for the first time.
Miss Elliot is facing eight charges of obtaining other peoples’ personal data “knowingly or recklessly, without the consent of the data controller”.
The charges are all contrary to Guernsey’s Data Protection Law which came in during 2017.
The alleged offences all occurred between October 2019 and October 2025.
The prosecution previously told the Magistrate’s Court that work was underway to explore potential relationships between the defendant and the people whose data she is accused of looking up.
HSC’s Director of Care Delivery, Elaine Burgess previously told Express that the alleged victims have all been contacted.
