Guernsey Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was found injured in St Peter Port on Saturday afternoon.

A spokesperson said the 67-year-old – who has not been named – died following an incident in the Green Lanes between Valnord Lane and Rozel Road, near St Jacques.

“The Joint Emergency Services Control Centre received a call reporting that the man had been found injured in the road at 15:05,” the spokesperson explained.

“An investigation has now been launched, and officers are appealing for anyone with any information to come forwards as soon as possible.”

Passersby reported seeing the area taped off while the emergency services dealt with the situation, with traffic diverted away from the scene.

While initially reported as an ‘RTC’, the Guernsey Police spokesperson said the matter is “currently being treated as a medical incident”.

They said that “enquiries are still ongoing, and we would ask anyone who saw anything in the St Jacques area at the time to make contact with officers.

“In addition, anyone with any other information which may be relevant, or useful, to investigating officers is asked to get in touch.

“You can contact us on 01481 222 222 and ask to speak to the Duty Inspector or Sergeant.”

Guernsey Police confirmed that officers have been working with the man’s family and the spokesperson offered condolences to them at “this very difficult time”.
