It follows on from the recent addition of a filter in the area, and aims to remind motorists to give way.

“Visibility improvements were made and this was followed by the installation of a filter at the junction as a trial which was monitored to see if it would reduce the speed of vehicles using this junction,” explained Licensing and Operations Manager for Traffic and Highway Services, Colin Le Page.

“However, traffic speed surveys, along with feedback from the douzaine and regular users of the roads, revealed that there had been a small reduction in average speed of vehicles but the filter alone had not significantly addressed road safety concerns. Therefore, with speeding a proven issue in the area, it was decided to install the filter on a raised table which will force vehicles to slow down and hopefully improve road safety in the area.”
