We’ve just experienced the second warmest June on record in Guernsey.

Temperatures for the month fell just short of the all time record for hot days.

Yesterday, Monday 30 June saw the thermometer hit 30.4 degrees celsius. That’s just 0.4 degrees off the record set back in 1976 when it reached 30.8 on 26 June.

Yesterday’s temperature was also almost double the 30 year average for the month though, which sits at a lowly 16 degrees celsius.

Guernsey has seen quite a bit of variability with its June weather this year.

While there have been some sunny and warm days, there have also been periods of cloudier weather, some mist or fog patches, and some periods of persistent drizzle.

June typically sees around five to 11 ‘rainy days’, with an average monthly rainfall of approximately 44-68mm.

While specific rainfall totals for June 2025 aren’t fully available yet, the presence of drizzle and rain on some days suggests it will all be within the typical range for the month.

This is backed up with the average amount of sunshine hours.

Although yesterday we had 14.5 hours of sunshine, on average Guernsey usually experiences around eight hours of sunshine per day in June.

This year, the month has had sunny periods, but we’ve also had a good deal of cloud cover on some days, resulting in an average of 6.7 sunshine hours.
