Guernsey could see another decades old weather record smashed this week – with the temperature predicted to reach 36c today.
That would surpass the 34.3c recorded on 9 August 2003.

The previous highest temperature for the month was set in 1976 when 30.8c was recorded on 26 June.
This week has already seen that record broken twice, with 32.2c recorded on Monday and 33.8c on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s temperature only reached a maximum of 31.7c.
The Duty Observer at Guernsey Met Office told Express this morning that they are predicting 36c “later today” – but the temperature will then drop back to the low 20s from tomorrow onward.

The maximum June temperature is the second weather record that has been broken so far this year.
In May, a new record was set for the month’s maximum recorded temperature when it hit 31.5c on the 26th.
Meanwhile, the start of the year was ‘wetter than average’ but did not break any records.
By Tuesday 24 February we had only had one dry day recorded so far this year, with the month noted as “the wettest on record since 1978”.
